Song of the Day: Childhood Dreams by Nelly Furtado

(WARNING: A long winded entry about my Backstreet Boys concert to follow. Well, not at first but it'll come. You were warned.)

Does anyone else LOVE Kayne West? I mean really, how can you NOT love someone who just goes and puts the president on blast on a live National Telethon for charity? NBC is a bunch of pussies by the way for not airing the entire rant on the west coast.

My hands hurt like hell but I am gonna type this out anyway. Part of the reason is because I have been working so much damn overtime. Gotta love 55+ hour work weeks. 4 people quit in 5 days. And they made W!nter quit. Bastards. I really, truly cannot stand my place of business. Why I stay is just me being too fucking lazy to look for a new job. Or me just too scared to work my ass off for the career I want. I don't know.

So in other Hellspot news, the BLAS depressed me something fierce. He was checking his email at work in the break room and then I just "happen" to get the need to "check" my email too. I am such the stalker. Anyways. He gives me his reqular greeting and continues looking at whatver website he was on. Then, he turns to me and asks where are some places to get chairs. I tell him and he says cool and thank you. Then he tells me that he has this room for his video games at his apartment and him and the girlfriend were needing to get some stuff for the room. He just smiled (damn him) and said, "Yeah, we have our room but I want that to be the chill room and just be comfortable." I ever so stealthy, ask, "Oh you two moved in together? Where at?" He tells me but then I block his babbling out and then the girlfriend calls and then he leaves to go back to work. *Sigh* Damnit. Why do I migrate towards the taken ones?

So back to happier things: My BSB concert!!! So we get to the Dodge Theatre and of course buy stuff. A key chain, t-shirt, and poster. $50 in 3 minutes. Yeah, the Backstreet Boys got ALOT of my money that weekend. Then we walk into the theatre and the opening act is STILL singing. So we sit and talk shit and be bored for the next 15 minutes til she leaves. Then it's another 20 minutes before the BSB come out. I think the boys are stuck in 1985 for some reason because all of the music that played while we were waiting was pure 80's rock. While this is going on, there is a huge Jumbotron that you can pay to have a text message be shown, and we read those. Some of those were too funny.

Anyways FINALLY the guys come out and their stage is a PURE RECYCLED STAGE from *Nsync. Even the band had some of the members that played for *Nsync!! Anyways. There was the lighted staircase that was used in the PopOdyssey tour that JC mocked Justin on numerous time, as well as the raised back casing with the opening to rise up from the floor that damn near made Joey a one legged pop star. I really think Johnny Wright is a cheap bastard but oh well. Anyways. From the moment the lights went down, the screaming began and EVERYONE was up on their feet. Not to sound stuck up or diss my boys and all, but I was really surprised to see that type of reaction from the fans after all this time. I mean, I didn't think that my hometown had this much love for them, especially since the radio stations here don't play them and MTV is really fucked towards them right now. It's good though because that means they'll come back. Anyways. They played this montage of clips and videos. And then they broke out into The Call. Oh how I love that song. The remix is SO much better but I still love that song. Especially when AJ ends the bridge. When they were done with that one, it was into one of my new favorite songs by them, Beautiful Woman. OMG. While I loved the leaked version, with all its bass and funk and just plain hotness, the live rock version was just as awesome. If my best friend wasn't already in love with that little Carter boy that song might make wanna talk to him. Oh he was going to town in that song, just rocking the fuck out. It was great.
Next, was More Than That which I will always love live. That song is pure vocal prettiness. Then was Climbing The Walls which Nick busted out the acoustic guitar and played the intro with Brian and Shape of My Heart where me and Kai sang all the adlibs. After that came another video montage to Don't Want You Back that I would have rather watched live because who doesn't like an angry boy-band? Then there was The One which I REALLY could have done without. Then came I Still. Again OMG. I love the vocals and adlibs on this song. I ROCKED OUT. For I Want It That Way Kai and I did our classic BSB movements which will always be funny, while Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely was again another example of their kick ass vocals. I think it was in Larger Than Life the BSB felt the need to channel *Nsync again because right in the middle of the song they did a laser show that was EXACTLY like the one, again, from the PopOdyssey tour. I was just waiting for the Boss Man to come out with the Digi-Hoes. After The Game Is Over, errr.. I mean Show Me The Meaning, was Siberia. The song is ok but really I will never be able to listen to it again without thinking of the high level of Velveeta I was given when the fake snow started falling. Yeah...

OK. I will continue my review later because I really need to go to bed. Or I just might watch The Notebook again. I love that movie. Also, I just love the fact that Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling are dating in real life.

More later...
